Did not post for a long time. Full credit goes to wordpress and the fact that my pc has been preventing me from blogging. My windows setup seems to reboot whenever it wishes to while my linux setup just stops responding the moment I start some special applications. (reiserfs – panic it says :O ).

* For people with reiserfs panic , a simple ro mount + fsck with a rebuild of the tree will do. *

Anyway, bf2 special forces is in. It’s amazing. With additional features like flash bangs, tear-gas, smoke grenades, hooks, ropes…..(phew) it’s simply a must-play game.  Oops, forgot all about the fast-terrain vehicles.

Dota games are also getting more interesting. Thanks to the extensive campaign against divine rapier, dota is much more interesting.

*      Really want to finish a major part of the BTP in the holidays. No sign of the prof. though.    *

The following is the “theory of evolution” (my version of course) – the result of a lot of bc + inspiration from a movie (The Jacket – a must c).

Okey, first of all the motive for any being in the universe

1. making sure that its existence is not in danger.

2. making sure that the species propagates.

Nature also btw is in the process of evolution. The beings (this includes all living beings) are all components of nature. As such nature also makes sure that its both protected and also survives for a long time . (Hence the balance – herb. v carn. ). As such nature took a shot with the dinosaurs – the strongest creatures ever. And as usual with great power comes great responsibities. Of course, shit happened and the dinosaur species became extinct. This was when evolution produced a new species – homo sapiens , beings with intelligence capable of finding a way out of most disasters (with a pretty high propogation rate , someone must survive).

As a result, we will c an increase in the intelligence of human beings (except u vasan ) as time goes by until,of course ,shi* happens.

pyqt x-errors ? QThreads?

This is one type of problem which refuses to subside once it starts. One of the major problems of using qt for any type of front-end work , this error comes when there are more and than one instructions simultaneously trying to draw the widget ( atleast, thats what I heard – correct me if I am wrong pls) . GUI problems even arise when we try to change some part of the GUI from an external thread. ( ) .
This got me googling for a solution and led me to a site which suggested the use of QThreads in the application. Here’s what the intro has to say
“Qt provides thread support in the form of basic platform-independent threading classes, a thread-safe way of posting events, and a global Qt library lock that allows you to call Qt methods from different threads.”
Ne way, it seemed pretty ordinary at first. I basically use the threading module for basic thread creation. However, it seemed to lack a terminate feature (which i felt would be quite nice) which QThread seems to have.
Apart from these, setting priority for a thread, pausing it seem to be peace of cake with this module.

ps1: Let me know if the above features can be done with the normal threading module (cus i don’t know)

The world cup seems to have awakened several hidden emotions in the tv room . With several people shouting curses and cheers in my ear, watching the fifa world cup @ iiit has been a pleasant experience. The top cheers (as observed by me of course) are when

1. Vikas Dhorasoo entered the field during the France match
2. Rooney entered in the second half in their match against t&t
3. Croutch missing several lollypop (first time I am using the term on paper ) chances

Karma

This is the second time I am writing this post thanks to the “uninterrupted” working state of my pc. Never actually believed in Karma before until I saw “My name is Earl”. Pretty good show, decent comedy. Lately, I have had a lot (I mean a lot) of free time to think about my life and the events that surround me. I seem to have narrowed the reason as to why things happen the way they have been happening. Karma. (Damn you anand, hate it when you are right.)
After the STS grades were out, I heard someone actually say “lucky teepo”. Soon after, WDKM results were also out. Seems I missed an ‘A’ by 0.80 + My grade slipped to a ‘B’ because of attendance. (Mind you, I don’t have less attendance, I guess pkr doesn’t like me). Karma, sigh..
In 12′th I was actually preparing for EAMCET, yes..its the CET for AP, ended up registering for AIEEE for the simple reason that NITW was considering admissions on the basis of AIEEE. Landed in IIIT. (I also got in NITW btw) . Its difficult to analyze whether my life here has been good or bad. On a scale of 10 (10 being a very nice experience in IIIT), I would rate my life a 4. Slowly believing in kannan’s philosophy – “Grade does not matter” .
The bottom line …- No more why’s and how’s. No more caring. Karma will take care. (just make sure i end up with a CGP of 8.1 , if possible 8.5 )
